With S10 Ventures, our aim is to provide technology startups an easy access to international investors. The fund will go live shortly and applications for it will begin shortly. Startups inducted into the accelerator will have direct access to the fund when it goes live.
OUR PAST COHORTS
We have run two cohorts in the past year with a total of 13 startups. The first cohort of really early-stage startups had nine companies, while the second for a little advanced startups, we had four. The startups from cohort one have raised on an average of ~ USD 80,000 in their pre-angel round, which the second cohort is raising on an average about ~ USD 400,000.
Here are some of our guiding principles:
- It takes the proverbial 'village' to raise a business from inception.
- A founder or the team need to grow as individuals and leaders along with the company.
- 'Success' can mean different things to different people. And hence, the same yardstick doesn't work all the time.
- Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for life.
- Honesty is the best policy. Always.
- Experiment. There's no better evidence than experimental data.
- Fail fast. Bounce back faster.
When we entered the Spark10 accelerator program, as co-founders of a fledgling startup, we had a million questions to ask. Startup mentors typically aggregate such questions, into elaborate "gyaan" sessions. But that is not how Spark10 approaches mentoring.
